five on friday

One. Summer Lovin’

The last few days we have been plagued with rain + grey, dreary weather, however earlier this week we had a beautiful stretch of perfect Summer Dayzz. As a family, we explored a new playground -- new playground friends for Colden, a baby swing for Haesten.
It was a really lovely Father’s Day afternoon. We finished out the evening with ice cream first, then Dad’s fave Subway for supper. The next day was Colden’s first Elementary Track Meet. You can see more about the day here but it was a truly fantastic day. I still am in amazement at the sportsmanship + camaraderie shown. It was an outstanding day and I am so proud of both my boys! They both did phenomenally all day!

two. birthdays. birthdays. birthdays.
This weekend is a crazy whirlwind of birthday celebrations! Today we are celebrating Colden’s cousins birthday (a day early!), tomorrow Colden is attending a classmates party and on Sunday we are celebrating my youngest brothers birthday! It will be a full weekend of fun, company and cake! Hopefully the weather will cooperate, it has been pretty rainy here but it would be nice to have some sunshine, especially for all the fun party activities!

three. easy supper // sirloin strip rice bowl
I live for quick and easy suppers and this one was both delicious and a favourite with our 7 year-old. win = win! Simply cut a sirloin into strips, fill a pot with water, add whatever veggies you like (we used celery, corn, and carrots), cubes of beef broth, spices to taste -- let it come to a boil. drain and serve on top of rice! Easy but yummy + filling! We have had the leftovers a handful of times already and it is just as good warmed-up!

four. 30 day writing challenge
3 weeks in. Single-digit countdown is ON!! cheers, cheers, cheers! No, but in all seriousness, I am super proud of myself and am excited to write, if only to say that I actually completed the challenge! Plus it would be really pitiful if I made it this far and quit so close to the finish line...I got this, right?!

five. financial goal setting & planning
Home stretch! As we near the end of the month, I think both Pier and I are fairly proud of our progress as far as our financial planning is concerned. We have worked really, really hard to lay a strong, supportive foundation and are super excited to see our hard work take root! We are both really excited to review our budget at months end and have checked in with each other in advance of our big review.
