Instagram // February 2021

Happy March! I was thinking it could be fun to do a monthly Instagram recap series here on the blog? What do you lovelies think? At the beginning of the month I will upload my most popular/my favorite Instagram photos from the month before. I have seen this series done on other blogs & I love seeing and reading a recap of the previous month Instagram-style!

I think this will also be a great way to document my growth, as well as hold myself accountable and make sure I am posting to Instagram consistently. Currently my Instagram has 1750 followers, for April I would love to be able to grow that to just around 1800!

Here’s February's Recap:

  1. It had been awhile since I have gotten fully ready (thanks covid), so of course a good hair day + a complete outfit had to be documented selfie-style!

  1. Colden re-reading his fave Dog Man book. We had a stretch of insanely cold weather which was perfect for snuggling up with a good book and TONS of blankets.

  1. Valentine's Day! We all had so much fun taking these love-themed box photos. Check out all the pics here.

  1. The boys completed their first month as Littlest Prince Couture ambassadors! More on that in a later blog post ;)

  1. Another Valentine's pic! This one was from another collab with Littlest Prince Couture.

  1. My little Valentine's <3

  1. One of my most fave pics of Haesten! So much joy + happiness in one photo!

  1. This was a throwback to my birthday cake; it is a Tres Leches cake - a sponge cake soaked in 3 kinds of milk. I was scrolling through my phone and instantly wanted a piece as soon as this pic popped up on my phone!

That’s a little bit of our month! What have you been up too? I can hardly believe that we are already 3 months into 2021...and Easter is just a few short weeks away!

Valentine's Photos // 2021

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a wonderful long weekend + a lovely Valentine's Day!

In addition to a cold stretch (like -40 e.v.e.r.y. single day this week), we are still under stay-at-home orders with the majority of places and businesses closed, so it was a pretty quiet weekend at home.

In the week leading up to Valentines I was able to take some really cute photos of the boys! In the collage above I utilized a huge cardboard box Pier brought home from work. Like when I say huge, I mean its massive. Haesten can easily stand up in it and I am pretty sure we would be able to fit all 4 of us in there for a family pic -- next time I will set up the tripod and try it out! I knew the collage would have 9 squares so I tentatively decided the loose set-up (for example: I knew I wanted a photo of Pier and I together, the boys together, as well as singletons of everyone.) in my head before I started taking pics. It was so much fun to do and both boys LOVED blowing glitter everywhere! It was super easy to piece the collage together, I used the layout app which is really user friendly and customizable.

For these photos of the boys in their twining red flannel shirts, I pulled the photo booth/lemonade stand Pier built a few years ago inside, and we took photos with props and decorations we had at home.

Roses are red, violets are blue, being in quarantine is better with you!

HA just kidding its crazy over here but they sure are cute and I love them so stinkin' much!!!

Anyway, we hope you all had a Happy LOVE Day. Hold your loved ones extra close and tell them you love them. If there is anything to take away from this crazy year + lockdowns, it's how important our friends and family truly are. Celebrate love each and every day! I certainly do not take it for granted that I am blessed to have these three Valentines to love on!

Our Weekend // May Long

Hi everyone! It's been a minute since I've blogged but I figured no better way than to jump right on in and share our quiet but peaceful long weekend.

The boys and I have been sheltering-in-place since the middle of March. Pier is still working and is doing alllll the errands and grocery trips so that I can be home with our sons. With the exception of some neighborhood walks, we have been pretty well home bound -- thankfully the days are getting longer + the weather warmer so we can be outside in our yard! Our province is slowly starting to lift restrictions, however we have chosen as a family, to remain pretty conservative and continue to social isolate for the time being. Our primary reason for doing this is to protect Haesten as much as we can. He is immunodeficient (at an increased risk/more prone to illness). We are listening to his medical professionals and are just trying to make the right choices as they come up.

Although this weekend was pretty low key it was tons of fun + filled with lots of family time <3
The whole weekend had beautiful weather and we spent as much time as possible outside enjoying the fresh air + sunshine!!

Friday was a pretty 'normal' day for us -- Pier was at work and Colden and I spent the morning plugging away at some of his school assignments. That afternoon we set up the sprinkler (the 1st of MANY) under the trampoline -- hours of fun!
the kid has moves!

As soon as the boys woke up on Saturday, we headed to the back yard. Haesten practiced his basketball shot while Colden got his bike ready for the season. I am so, so proud of Colden, he spent the entire day out riding his bike AND without training wheels! This is a first for him and a huge milestone. He was so impressed with himself, he didn't want to stop biking for anything (even food!). At one point even our neighbors were cheering down the road for him! That evening we went for an hour and-a-half walk. We took the kids 'window-shopping' downtown, walking up + down the sidewalks. We took the long way home, stopping to show Haesten the Mirror Lake fountain and ducks!

Sunday was more of an in-home day. Colden woke up with an allergic reaction from being outside Saturday (seasonal/spring allergies) and Pier had to work for a bit so it was a pretty lazy morning. We snuggled on the couch and watched the new Maleficent film. Several of our local businesses organized a drive-by parade that we were able to watch from our deck. However, the best part of the day (according to Colden!) was after Haesten was asleep -- Pier and Colden went on a late-night glow in the dark walk!

Monday was spent in the yard playing + riding bikes for hours and hours! We took an afternoon drive around town before picking up supper to take home. To finish our long weekend, Pier, Colden and I played sight word BINGO

look mom I'm balancing!

I'm sure if things were different we would have had a busier long weekend with more elaborate plans but I am so thankful that I was able to spend this May Long with my favorite gents!

Did you have a quiet long weekend or did you have big plans to celebrate things opening back up?!

{9} Years

MY LOVE

{9} beautiful years together!

“I didn't fall in love with you. I walked into love with you, with my eyes wide open, choosing to take every step along the way. I do believe in fate and destiny, but I also believe we are only fated to do the things that we'd choose anyway. And I'd choose you; in a hundred lifetimes, in a hundred worlds, in any version of reality, I'd find you and I'd choose you” — Kiersten White

This man. Everyday we wing it. Everyday life throws us curve balls and we just swing the best way we can. But 2 babies in, I still have all the heart-eyes for this man 😍 we are constantly cheering each other on from the sidelines as we achieve our personal goals and at the end of the day, as hectic as they can be, we crash on the couch, laughing and flirting like two loved-up teenagers. He drives me all types of crazy, but mainly crazy in love
I’ll love you tomorrow and I’ll love you forever. Here’s to the next 41 years, handsome! cheers!

Our Summer To-Do List 2019

It is starting to feel like Summer! And with the beautiful Alberta weather and green grass and gorgeous flowers, come all the FUN, Summer activities! Our little family typically does day-long road trips as it best suits our family budget and scheduling. Travelling and seeing new (and familiar!) parts of Alberta has kinda become our Summer-thing. I love the idea of spending the whole day exploring and having fun but still being close enough to come home and go to sleep in our own beds (especially with a new baby...sleep is a coveted luxury!)

Summer 2019 will be filled with tons of fun, great food, and lots of memories! We are looking forward to crossing off some of our annual favourites, as well as some new adventures! Check out what made our Summer Bucket-List:

~ Visit Mirror Lake, take the train and get an ice cream (One of many attractions in our little city!)

~ Lots and lots of beach and lake days: All winter long I have been longing for days like this one. I am so excited to visit our favourite spot - Pelican Point and try out new and different lakes and beaches this summer that are within a days drive to us!

~ Spend a day at Leduc in the Alexandra Outdoor Pool and Spray Park and finish the day off with some Tutti Frutti yogurt (of course!). This is one of our most favorite day trips each summer!

~ Spend a day at the Blackfalds Outdoor Pool. I have heard raving reviews about the outdoor pool in Blackfalds (it even has a little beach area!). I think this is the perfect addition to our summer to-do list and am looking forward to checking it out!

~ Explore a new spray park. Our local swimming pool & spray park is currently under renovation and so we will need to travel in order to take advantage of the fun a spray park can bring. I would love to check out the spray parks in either Tofield or Ardrossan. We would make it a full-day adventure by packing a picnic lunch!

~ Visit as many playgrounds in our town as possible! Our local community has been updating & renovating all of our local playgrounds (as necessary). This summer, we want to pack a picnic lunch and spend a day playing + exploring all the “new-to-us” parks in our area!

Would-Be-Nice Summer List:

~ Edmonton Valley Zoo ~ Forestburg Outdoor Pool ~ Drumheller ~ Calaway Park/Calgary Zoo ~ Complete as many things off of the Camrose Summer Activities: 100 things to see and do list as we can!~

What's on your Summer to-do list? What is your top pick from this list?
