Liebster - German for dearest -- can also mean: sweetest, kindest, beloved, sweetheart, etc.
A HUGE thank you to Kelly from Motherhood: Shit Just Got Real  for nominating me for the Liebster award. I cannot even begin to tell you how much I appreciate the nomination!! Please hop on over and show Kelly some love; she blogs about family life and everything motherhood!

The main purpose of the Liebster Award is to help new bloggers connect, encourage and support each other and build a sense of community. There are rules for the Leibster award, but they can vary with each nomination.

The Rules of the Liebster Award:

1. Thank the Blogger that nominated you in your post and link back to their site

2. Answer the 11 questions from the Blogger that nominated you

3. Tell your readers 11 random facts about you

4. Nominate 11 Bloggers for the Liebster Awards

5. Ask your nominees to answer 11 of your own questions

This is a fun award so if you’re nominated, please don’t feel pressured to keep it going.

Questions from Kelly at Motherhood: Shit Just Got Real :

1. What is one thing you can't live without?
Chocolate! And my son and husband (of course!)

2. How did you come up with your blog name?
The Juneau Home is our family's online 'home'! One of the reasons I started blogging was to keep in-touch with our family down east; I wanted to share our day-to-day activities but needed a venue that would broach a language barrier (English-French), and a blog seemed like the perfect venue. I could post lots of pics and updates to our family from our home.

3. What is your favourite thing to do in your down time?
Read, read and read. I especially love historical fiction novels!

4. If you could go to any place for a day where would it be?
I would love to go spend the day back at Pelican Point. Sand, sun and picnic food sounds soo good to me right now!

5. Why did you start blogging?
After I stopped teaching dance full-time, I was in a really big life slump. I am an artistic person and really needed something creative that I could put all my passion into. At the same time, my husband and I were trying to find a way we could keep our family on the other side of the country, in-the-loop with our everyday happenings sooo we started a blog! It is the perfect creative balance and allows our family a glimpse into our home!

6. What chore do you hate the most?
Dishes.....definitely dishes. I detest washing dishes sooo much that I will willing let my dishes add up so that they take over my sink, the counter, the stove AND the kitchen table before I finally get around to doing them (sans company, of course). By the time I finally HAVE to do dishes, I regret waiting so long because the food and grease is caked on and I've really only made the job I hate harder. It's a viscous, awful cycle and I am very thankful for my dishwasher!

7. What do you think is most wrong in society today?
Overall, I think there is a general lack of empathy in society. I feel like we need to remember to be kind to one another and do unto our neighbour as we would have him do to us. Cliché, I know, but I do believe that if we all tried to be compassionate and put ourselves into another's shoes there would be more understanding and a lot less conflict. I think empathy helps curate a sense of compassion and can unite and bring us together in a world that is so divided.

8. What societal view would you change and why?
That a woman cannot be both a stay at home mom and a feminist. I realize that for many a sahm and a feminist may not be synonymous BUT just because I stay at home doesn't mean that I do not believe in equal vote, equality pay, or support women's rights. There is NO one way to be a feminist and this article does a pretty great job of summing up my feelings on the subject: http://thoughtcatalog.com/britt-tashjian/2015/02/stay-at-home-moms-can-be-feminists-too/

9. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life; what would it be?
Potatoes! Mash 'em, boil 'em, stick 'em in a stew......no, but really! There is a million different ways to eat potatoes and they are quite nutritious and good for you.

10. Choose one: Eat bull testicles twice a month for the rest of your life OR live without the internet for the rest of your life?
I would have to go with: live without internet for the rest of my life. I have always wanted to spend a year fully-living in a historical reenactment for a year (think The Manor House). I do realize that a lifetime is a lot longer than a year but I do think I would love it and I would have more time for reading and snuggling my three year-old!

11. How do you think your blog has helped someone else?
I do know that my blog has helped my family stay connected; otherwise I hope my blogging can uplift and inspire others!

Eleven Facts About Me:

1. Even though we just bought our home (and I love it; don't get me wrong!) I really want to live on an acreage. Just a beautiful piece of land, where I can raise my babies, have a little garden and maybe a fruit tree (or two!) sounds like heaven to me.

2. I really detest pant shopping. I am down to cycling between 2 or 3 good pairs of pants and I am definitely not looking forward to shopping for more. I just abhor the process. You have to take your pants off, and then try the new ones on and if you're like me you grabbed the wrong size because it's been too long since you last shopped for pants and you can't remember your size! So you put your old pants back on, get a new size (or two, if you've got your thinking cap on) and repeat until you either give up and postpone until yet another day or have success and don't have to return until the new pair of pants are on the fritz! I just find it a tiring and frustrating process.....but dress or shirt shopping? Everyday, All day!

3. I have never travelled outside of Canada (yet!)

4. My favourite ballets would have to be the collaborations between Tchaikovsky and Petipa: The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, and Swan Lake

5. I am the eldest of five; I have two sisters and two brothers

6. My favourite colour is burgundy (can you tell?!)

7.  I L O V E contests. I see them as free lotteries; same odds, different prizes.

8. I was one of the tallest people in my class, all the way up until junior high; all of a sudden everyone else kept growing and I stayed at 5'2.......

9. I love making lists and do not know how other people can function without them!

10. I really, really want to learn how to quilt and crochet

11.My dream job would be Lieutenant Governor of Alberta
